Who are you?

You are a creator on YouTube (or Instagram or TikTok). Congratulations!

You are part of the movement to create a better world (more on that later).

Maybe you have a channel with 1M+ subs or maybe you’re on your way there. You have figured out that you want to launch a business, make YouTube your full-time job (so you can leave the corporate rat race or never enter it). Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Whatever it is, your calling as a creator is to create for the beauty of creation to entertain or educate.

You have established your channel but now I invite you to think beyond view and subscriber count. Are you making 7-figures? You should be. That number should be comprised of AdSense, yes, but also from brand sponsorship deals, affiliate links…but the real next level to take you to 7 or 8 figures will be in products like Feastable, Chamberlain Coffee, Prime Hydration and in courses. I just helped a client launch a 6 figure course that he sold out in 3 days, and that could include you.

Who am I?

I am the creators’ attorney, whose life’s calling is to protect and support you.

A year ago, in 2022, I started a YouTube channel called Tyler Chou The Creators’ Attorney (formerly The Hollywood Attorney) and quickly grew to 20,000 subs within 3 months. I am currently and absolutely living my dream life! Why? I founded my own law firm (Tyler Chou Law for Creators) where I work all day long with creators, helping them build out their businesses, using YouTube as their creativity incubator but also the marketing arm of their business. I am more than an attorney—I am my clients’ confidante, coach and biggest cheerleader.

Why? Why did I pivot and walk away from Hollywood?

Because it never felt right.

I have been an entertainment, transactional attorney in Hollywood for over 15 years, working at companies like Disney, Skydance and BuzzFeed, as well as large law firm where I was on the talent team of big names like Tom Hanks, Marisa Tomei and Robert Rodriguez and on the corporate team that represented Fox.

After protecting studios and companies for 15 years, I did not feel like I was doing meaningful work…that changed anyone’s life, directly. I was tired of protecting the big studios and production companies who took advantage of creatives. And, I wasn’t directly representing creatives, the real reason why I went into entertainment law.

So I walked away, even though it’s scary and hard building my own law firm, each day I wake up excited and it finally….FEELS RIGHT.

My work finally aligns with my values. I am protecting creators who have been winging it on their own. Those brave souls who create for the beauty of creation to entertain and educate, without the promise of fame or money—they create because they must….

Creators show us, courageously, that we do not have to be handcuffed to a soul-sucking 9 to 5 corporate job because someone, or society told us to as children. We can walk away from a job, quit and start a YouTube channel and share our story.

And creators create based on their own stories, with their phone or camera without a studio, streamer or network to tell them whether or not their stories are worthy of being picked out of development hell and will be produced against great odds. Creators are taking back the power and they create without anyone telling them no. The Creator Economy is currently valued at $104 Billion and expected to rise to $200 Billion by 2026. Traditional media (i.e., Hollywood) needs to wake up and pay attention.

Imagine in 10-20 years, where we have a generation of creators whose callings/work align with their values. People who create for the sake of creating and who are compensated for creating. A society where they do not self-numb with alcohol or on-line shopping because they hate their work and life because there is no meaning in the work, and they are not leaving behind a legacy or a story for the next generation. Imagine a world full of people who love their lives and the people around them. Full of joy and fulfillment. May you be a creator, and may we all be creators.

Creators are the soul of humanity. Who must be protected at all costs. And I am honored to pick up the sword and shield to protect all creators.

This is Tyler, and you are in the right place.
